Opening a Roshan Digital Account in Pakistan

The Roshan Digital Account (RDA) is an initiative by the Government of Pakistan aimed at facilitating overseas Pakistanis to invest in the country while keeping easy access to their funds. It allows non-resident Pakistanis to open bank accounts in Pakistan, offering services like remittances, deposits, and investment opportunities.
Criteria for Opening an RDA:
Eligibility: Must be a non-resident Pakistani, including dual nationals and individuals of Pakistani origin living abroad.
Required Documents:
Valid Pakistani passport.
CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) or NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis).
Proof of residence in the foreign country (e.g., utility bills or residence permit).
Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the country of residence (if applicable).
Bank Selection: Applicants need to choose one of the designated banks authorized by the State Bank of Pakistan.
Application Process: The account can usually be opened online through the bank’s website, requiring the completion of an application form and submission of the necessary documents.

Accounts Available in Both Foreign Currency and Pakistani Rupees
The customer can choose either a foreign currency or rupee-denominated account, or both. For NRPs, these accounts would be interoperable and enable real-time online conversion from foreign currency to Pakistani Rupees and vice versa.
